Wayne Brooks - Leader, Lead Vocals, Guitarist, Songwriter

I come from a long line of musical pioneers from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee.  Father Lon was a fiddler who played for dances in the mountains of North Carolina. Uncle Guy Brooks was one of the early pioneers of traditional mountain and bluegrass music who wrote the first wreck on the highway song called Wreck on a Mountain Road and performed with several bands including The Red Fox Chasers.

I formed the Piney Grove ramblers in 2001.  This Band has been fortunate to perform in a wide variety of venues around Central Texas, including several performances on KOOP Radio.  We accept invitations to perform at weddings, family reunions, restaurants, bars, local music venues and Bluegrass festivals.

After retiring from the high-tech world, I started writing songs, two of which have been recorded by other groups and one of my songs is in the movie, Unbroken: The Pearl Bluegrass Circle.  Our Band performs a mixture of original compositions written by the Band, obscure Bluegrass tunes rarely performed by other bands, Irish ballads, and some old Bluegrass favorites.
